Boys Like Girls- Two Is Better Than One
This song is quickly becoming a new favorite of mine... So I am debating wedding songs now!!
I need help, let me know what you think. Two is better than one...or I run to you?? (I run to you is posted below if you wanna listen!)
I love them both and they will both be at the wedding but the million dollar question is which song will be our first dance?? Can you guess?
150 Days!!!
Where has the time gone? There are only 150 days left until our big day! We got a confirmation e-mail this morning stating that James' wedding band has been shipped :) Yesterday I finally received my swatch from Jasmine's Bridal, so we will be ordering bridesmaids dresses first thing after the new year! We are very excited about that. It typically takes up to 12 weeks for the dresses to arrive so it is very important we order them soon. There is still so much left to do and not so much time to do it all. These past 8 months have gone by so fast! It has been such an amazing time in our lives.
As for now, "We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!"
Merry Christmas Eve
Love,
The Scully's :)

James' Wedding Band
I just placed the order for James' wedding band! It should arrive in just a few weeks. The band James chose is Tungsten metal; it is one of the strongest metals available. We are so excited, it is so hard to believe our big day is only about 150 days away.

Gifts and Favors!
3 more to do's crossed off our list today! YAY! :-) James and I ordered our bridesmaids gifts, groomsmen gifts, and wedding favors today through The Knot. (I love them!) We are so excited for everyone to see what we have picked out, but you will have to wait, no hints from me! (-;
Only a little over 5 months to go and we are counting down every day! These months have all gone by so fast! It's hard to believe that James and I have been engaged now for 8 months! I love him more everyday!
Next on my to do's is to find a place I would like to do my hair and actually order the bridesmaids dresses! They are kinda giving me a hard time with swatches but I almost have it figured out, hopefully!
James has decided on a ring he would like and we are going this weekend to find the size of his finger! He has also decided on a tuxedo for himself and his boys. Hopefully they will make it to the store this weekend to try everything on.
Lots to do and little time to do it, but loving every second of it!

Cake Update...
For all of our concerned loved ones... I will NOT be making our wedding cake. I was very excited and willing to take on the challenge but was talked out of it from my concerned family who did not want me overwhelmed or overstressed on my big day. So... luckily with the help of Karen Chapman we have found a wonderful baker to help us create a beautiful masterpiece of a cake :-) You can all take a sigh of relief. LOL

DIY
OK, so I have decided to become a "Do It Yourself" Bride! With the budgets weighing heavily on my shoulders lately I have decided to make my own wedding cake!! AH!! haha. I am both nervous and very excited about my decision! Baking is definitely something I have had my fare share of fun with over the past few years...wedding cakes however will be a new adventure for me! Luckily, my mother is an awesome baker who is more than willing to trial and error with me. My maid of honor's sister Katie is also a very talented baker who hopefully will come to my rescue and teach a few tricks of the trade!!
So the trials begin next week! Stay tuned for updates, I'm sure the first few will be very interesting! :)

Save The Date!!
Hotel Accomodations
We nailed down our hotel search this week and made the big decision... who knew that choosing a hotel would be so difficult! Haha We are going with the Hilton Garden Inn Hotel in Tallahassee. http://hiltongardeninn.hilton.com/en/gi/hotels/index.jhtml;jsessionid=4UWX1YXD5SWWICSGBJBOD4Q?ctyhocn=TLHEHGI The Hilton is centrally located between the church and the reception site. It is a beautiful hotel and the price is right! Room prices are $89.00/night or $99.00 to included breakfast for up to 4 people in each room. They also have an online guest manager list for us to access so we can keep track of who is coming and how many rooms to keep in our block. I will be posting more information on booking sometime this week.

Wedding Expo

The boys were busy doing work around the house so the MOH and I decided to head out to a bridal expo at the antique car museum last Sunday. After some bonding with the King, LOL, Molly and I enjoyed a free lunch on behalf of all the wonderful caterers in town...hehe. We did get a little wedding business done while we were there, I spoke to our caterer Karen Chapman from Klassic Katering (www.klassickatering.com) perused the hotel booths a bit (still haven't decided on that), we spoke to a really nice man about a tux for James and the boys, found a salon the girls will not be getting there make up done at, a possible spa for a girls day before the wedding, and listened to the limo driver's best deals which didn't sound as good as I hoped... all in all not so productive but it was fun spending time with my maid of honor. :)

Vista Print
In effort to save as much money as we possibly can and to show off my fiance's wonderful talent of graphic design, James and I have been busy creating lots of fun things for our wedding! We found this amazing website (www.vistaprint.com) where we are able to upload our own designs. The company prints the design for us and most of the time it is nearly free!!! By creating an account with this printing company we receive coupons and special offers all the time. We were able to print our wedding invitations for only $20.00!!! What a steal, and they look fantastic! We have also created cute save the date magnets and address labels. We are having lots of fun and saving money at the same time! The Save The Date Magnets will be mailed out soon, we are working on designing a card to accompany the magnet :) So check your mail and be on the look out for the cutest thing that will arrive all year!

Photography
So we just signed a contract with the best photographer in Tallahassee and we are both very, very excited!!! A great friend of mine, Kim Brock, the lady who did such an awesome job taking our engagement photos, will be in total creative control of our wedding photos and I couldn't be more excited! She is an amazing artist; she has a studio here in town and her life is photography!! Check out her blog for more pictures: http://www.kbstudio.blogspot.com Her price is right, she is amazingly talented and just an all around great person! I can not wait to see what she produces from the most important day of our lives! :D

Possible First Dance Song
This past weekend James and I went to an amazing concert in Jacksonville, Florida. We were able to see some amazing country artists perform all their great hits. Among those artists was Lady Antebellum. They are a newer group and one we really enjoy listening to. Their song "I run to you" is one of my favorite songs right now. We are considering it for our wedding song. Listen and let us know what you think! :)

Flower Power
Yesterday we paid the deposit for the florist and are officially on their books!! I am very excited about the flowers we have arranged with the florist and even more excited about the price! I am working pretty hard to keep this wedding as low budget as possible and I do believe we are on a great track, with the total for the flowers well under 1,000.
To keep the budget low we did decided against a few big arrangements so I am doing some research to see if I am crafty enough to pull off a faux flower arrangement! I have found a few really cute ideas online with Gerber Daisies so now I am on the hunt to find these beautiful flowers. This should be lots of fun! :)
Since Molly was not able to make it to the florist meeting, Christian happily filled in to capture the moment on camera! :)

My MOH
Bridesmaids Dress
This past weekend I spent some time in Orlando with my MOH. We have been on the hunt for bridesmaids dresses for a while and have not been able to find the right dress to fit the wedding. Who knew it would be harder to find a bridesmaids dress than the actual wedding dress! :) But luckily we think we have found the perfect dress! Here are a few pictures. I am still deciding on the final color. In the store the swatch for petunia was beautiful but in this picture it looks a little purple. The lighter pink picture looked a little too pale on the swatch. The dress Molly tried on was only in yellow, which was beautiful, it's just not our wedding color. So I am going to do a little more research and find a dress in the area that is by the same designer so I can see the pink colors in person and go from there. :)

Flowers & Venue
It has been a very productive week with Mom & Molly in town! :) Today we went out on a search for a florist and we believe we found a very good one. We have a meeting next Thursday @ 2:00pm to discuss the wedding in more detail and prices of course. Blossoms Tallahassee's Premier Florists has been voted "Best Florist" of Tallahassee each year since 2001 and is the proud recipient of two Tally Awards.

We also met with the Los Robles Woman's Club for another viewing and questions about the venue. We have decided they will be our venue for the reception and they should be faxing us the contract today! :)

As you know we have been having some difficulty with setting "the date" but we have come to a final conclusion. With May having two holidays Mother's Day & Memorial Day it was a little tricky. The florist advised us that flower prices are higher than usual 2 weeks before Mother's day and about 1 1/2 weeks after as well. So we have SET THE DATE FOR MAY 23RD, 2010. It is the final date, no more changes (we hope anyway ) We have talked with the church there are a few things going on that day but we are making it work! LOL There is a 12:00 mass and then a confirmation at 4:30... So our wedding is strategically scheduled right in the middle at 2:00pm.
We found a nice design we like for the invitations and save the dates, James will start working on those soon, but mark your calendars! :)

Cake
Today we met with Tiki's Tasties to discuss our wedding cake. We have decided to have a three tiered round traditional wedding cake with a strawberry filling and cream cheese butter-cream frosting. The cake will be decorated with piped dots and a simple pink bow with a monogrammed topper.
We are very excited... tomorrow Mom, Molly & I are off to meet with a few florists to talk flowers! :) Then a meeting at the Women's Club to look at linens, tables & flatware...

Changes, Changes
With much consideration of family and friends James and I have decided to change the wedding date... Our original thought was that Memorial Day weekend would be the easiest with everyone involved because they would have the extra day of travel on Monday as the holiday. After discussing with some distant relatives it seems that this date isn't actually the easiest time to travel with high plane fares and expected numbers of travelers on a holiday weekend it would be to much.
So we are moving the date. We discussed moving the date back, but with the wedding already being at the end of May we would be looking at a June wedding...in FLORIDA HEAT! Which I do not think any of our guest (nor ourselves) would like to suffer through... so needless to say we are moving the date forward. James would still like to hold the wedding on a Sunday so we are looking into May 9th, 2010.
At this point we are checking the date with the church and the two venues that we are still considering to see if this is even an option.
In the end we just want all of our family and friends that we love and cherish to be able to share in this great moment in our lives.... Stay tuned... there is much more fun to come! :)

Expos, Planning, & Decisions!!
Last Monday James, Christian & I attended an amazing wedding expo at the Golden Eagle Country Club in Tallahassee. The venue was full of cake venders, caterers, rental supplies, transportation info, lodging and much more! Some things we haven't even thought of yet! We left so full of cake and samples that we didn't even eat dinner that night!
They were giving out door prizes and we were the lucky winners of a lighted bar from InTents Events. :) Unfortunately, that is not something we needed for the reception...of course! LOL The venue that I think we have settled on is called Goodwood Plantation; they have two built in bars.
In the midst of what must have been hundreds of types of cakes we found the cake we liked the most. The cake is from Tiki's Tasties (tikistasties.com) her traditional wedding cake was to die for! It had a delicious strawberry cream filling that was sensational! As for the design of the cake... well let's just say we are still working on that! We have gone back and forth with a few different options, we saw a beautiful cake on Cake Boss (an amazing show on TLC) which had a cherry blossom design that we both loved and considered as a theme for the wedding. James would like a three tiered square cake with each layer angled... I would like simple round white with maybe a hint of pink (oh! That's our wedding color!)So we are moving on to other decisions and will come back to that later... :)
On Monday we are meeting with a caterer from Catering Capers . Wish us luck!!

Video of the Engagment

April 26th, 2009 while at the FSU Baseball game with Christian's Atom League Baseball team, James 'popped the question'. It was a very exciting and surprising moment, not to mention hot! :) I was under the impression we were just there to watch Christian's team take the field with the FSU Baseball players... but to my surprise in the bottom of the second inning James was on his knees and they were playing Brown Eyed Girl with the screen full of our names! It was definitely a memorable moment for us! Check out the video!
