Last Monday James, Christian & I attended an amazing wedding expo at the Golden Eagle Country Club in Tallahassee. The venue was full of cake venders, caterers, rental supplies, transportation info, lodging and much more! Some things we haven't even thought of yet! We left so full of cake and samples that we didn't even eat dinner that night!
They were giving out door prizes and we were the lucky winners of a lighted bar from InTents Events. :) Unfortunately, that is not something we needed for the reception...of course! LOL The venue that I think we have settled on is called Goodwood Plantation; they have two built in bars.
In the midst of what must have been hundreds of types of cakes we found the cake we liked the most. The cake is from Tiki's Tasties (tikistasties.com) her traditional wedding cake was to die for! It had a delicious strawberry cream filling that was sensational! As for the design of the cake... well let's just say we are still working on that! We have gone back and forth with a few different options, we saw a beautiful cake on Cake Boss (an amazing show on TLC) which had a cherry blossom design that we both loved and considered as a theme for the wedding. James would like a three tiered square cake with each layer angled... I would like simple round white with maybe a hint of pink (oh! That's our wedding color!)So we are moving on to other decisions and will come back to that later... :)
On Monday we are meeting with a caterer from Catering Capers . Wish us luck!!

Video of the Engagment

April 26th, 2009 while at the FSU Baseball game with Christian's Atom League Baseball team, James 'popped the question'. It was a very exciting and surprising moment, not to mention hot! :) I was under the impression we were just there to watch Christian's team take the field with the FSU Baseball players... but to my surprise in the bottom of the second inning James was on his knees and they were playing Brown Eyed Girl with the screen full of our names! It was definitely a memorable moment for us! Check out the video!

We've set the date!
With lots of thinking about times of year, other family weddings, and the special people in our wedding we have decided a Memorial Weekend wedding works best for us! Our official wedding date is May 29th, 2010 at 3:00pm. The ceremony will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church here in Tallahassee. Setting a reception venue is another story! Who knew weddings were so expensive!? We are trying to be frugal, well as frugal as I can be! :) So venues are quickly being scratched off the list as we go! James & I are trying to follow a simple yet elegant theme as much as possible. We are looking for a venue with an out door area so we can enjoy the beautiful scenery of Tallahassee... there are still a few hopefuls out there! We are very excited and I love that James is full in when it comes to planning even decorating! He's amazing! So 360 days to go, I hope I can get this all done in time; there's so much to do! :)
